Rewire trauma

where it lives

Somatic EMDR Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Program

When trauma is stored in your nervous system, talk therapy alone, often isn't enough. This inmersive program integrates somatic awareness, EMDR bilateral processing, and ketamine-assisted therapy (including 9 medicine journeys) to create lasting nervous system change. Designed for individuals seeking depth, body-centered healing, and sustained transformation. Kink‑affirming, poly‑affirming, queer‑affirming  and neurodivergent-affirming Somatic EMDR KAP. Available via telehealth in Washington, Idaho, and Florida.

in your body

Somatic therapy works gently with the body’s stored responses to stress and threat. Things like tension, breath patterns, or posture.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed method that helps the brain reprocess trauma in a way that reduces its emotional intensity.

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy creates a "neuroplastic window"—a brief period when your brain is exceptionally open to change—allowing deeper rewiring of trauma patterns at the neural level.

Together, Somatic EMDR Ketamine-Assisted Therapy creates a comprehensive path that supports both emotional insight and physical release, especially when talking alone isn't enough.

Trauma lives in the body as much as in memory, and healing does too.

EMDR for the mind, somatic therapy for the body, and ketamine for the neuroplastic window.

This integration uses gentle bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sound) alongside body-based practices such as breathwork, micro-movements, and nervous system awareness.

Together, they create space for trauma to shift on both emotional and physical levels, offering relief where talk therapy alone may not reach.

With ketamine's neuroplastic window amplifying this work, you're not just processing trauma cognitively, you're rewiring how your nervous system holds and responds to it.

With Somatic EMDR Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, you may…

  • Notice shifts in mood and nervous system regulation within hours to days, while deepening those changes through somatic integration.

  • Feel more open to new perspectives and possibilities, supported by your body’s growing sense of safety and stability.

  • Loosen patterns of thought, behavior, and protective responses that once felt rigid or difficult to shift.

  • Experience changes in how your body holds and responds to stress, triggers, and past experiences.

  • Build changes that feel more integrated and sustainable through guided preparation, medicine work, and somatic EMDR integration.

This approach can be especially supportive when other therapies or medications have not provided enough relief, when insight alone has not created the shifts you are seeking, and for those drawn to a path of healing that engages the nervous system, body, and lived experience more directly.

What Makes Somatic EMDR Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Unique

Many people turn to this integrated approach after trying other treatments that haven't brought enough relief or lasting change. What makes this program unique is how it combines three powerful modalities working together—ketamine's rapid neuroplastic window, EMDR's trauma reprocessing, and somatic therapy's body-centered healing; to address trauma at every level: neurological, emotional, and physical.

Works in a New Way

Unlike traditional antidepressants or talk therapy alone, this integrated approach uses ketamine to reset neural patterns while somatic EMDR processing helps your body release stored trauma. Together, they open space for healing where other approaches may have plateaued.

Fast Relief + Lasting Change

Most antidepressants can take weeks to work. Ketamine often begins easing symptoms within hours to days, while the 10-month program structure with deep somatic EMDR integration ensures those shifts become more lasting nervous system rewiring.

Specifically Designed for Trauma

For people who haven't felt enough change with traditional therapy or medications, this integrated approach combines ketamine's rapid neuroplastic effects with somatic EMDR's ability to metabolize trauma at the nervous system level; offering real relief where other treatments fell short.

High Response Rate

Research shows that 70-80% of people experience meaningful improvements with ketamine. Add somatic EMDR processing during the neuroplastic window, and you're working with your brain and body at their most receptive.

Why Therapy Matters in Ketamine-Assisted Healing

Ketamine opens a powerful window for change, but therapy is what makes those changes last. Through therapy, you’ll have support to:

  • Feel safe and grounded before, during, and after treatment

  • Work with what comes up, instead of feeling lost or alone in the experience

  • Use the “neuroplastic window” to practice new patterns that can truly take root

  • Carry insights into daily life so healing extends far beyond the session

What Happens in Your Somatic EMDR Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Program?

21+ Hours of Individual Therapeutic Support over 11 months with Certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapist & Somatic EMDR Specialist, Sarah Wolfer

Once you've completed your medical screening with Better U and are approved, you'll receive your ketamine prescription in the mail. At the same time, you'll receive your Carefully Curated Welcome Kit with thoughtful tools like a blood pressure monitor, ginger mints, premium headphones, eye mask, grounding stone, and journal to support you from the very start.

From there, the program follows a structured yet flexible flow designed to balance safety, depth, and lasting nervous system change.

  • Intake – We take time to understand your story, including your history, identity, relationships, and how your body carries stress, so we can anticipate what will best support you.

  • Preparation – Over 6 sessions, we take time to understand your story, practice somatic grounding, nervous system regulation tools, and simple boundaries to build a foundation of safety. We may also begin gentle Somatic EMDR processing to address foundational wounds before the medicine work. Together we clarify your hopes and co-create the setting through music, comfort items, and rituals that will help you feel steadied and supported.

  • Medicine Journey – During your first dosing session, you’ll take sublingual ketamine and settle into an inward-focused state with my guidance and presence throughout.

  • Ongoing Dosing Options – After your first therapist-supported journey, you may choose the level of support that feels most appropriate for future sessions. Some clients continue with therapist presence, while others invite a trusted support person or chaperone of their choosing.

  • Processing & Anchoring – During the medicine experience, emotions, imagery, or physical sensations may arise. You are invited to notice, stay curious, and allow experiences to unfold while we gently support integration of meaningful insights.

  • Closure – Each session ends with grounding and orienting so you leave feeling safe and steady.

  • Deep Integration Work – In your integration sessions the day after each dosing, we weave your experiences into daily life. This includes 90-minute Somatic EMDR processing sessions (after medicine journeys 4-7) where bilateral stimulation and body awareness help your nervous system metabolize trauma at the deepest level. This cycle of dosing and integration typically repeats 9 times, depending on your needs and goals.

What Ketamine Feels Like

Many people describe ketamine sessions as entering a dreamlike or meditative state. Physically, your body often feels heavier, softer, and deeply relaxed. Some people notice their breathing slowing, muscles unclenching, or a gentle warmth spreading through the body. Others describe a sense of floating, as if being carried or held.

Alongside the physical shifts, the mind may open in new ways. You might:

  • Experience colors, sounds, or sensations that feel richer or softer

  • Notice memories resurfacing with more clarity or compassion

  • Feel waves of calm moving through the body

  • Rest in a state of quiet stillness where the mind finally eases

  • Sense a deepened connection to yourself, others, or something larger

Every journey is unique. Some sessions bring reflection and insight, while others offer a soothing spaciousness. What matters most is that you’ll be supported the whole time with grounding practices, an attuned presence, and a safe container to explore whatever arises in both body and mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Somatic EMDR KAP Program different from your other KAP options?

The Somatic EMDR KAP Program is designed for people who want a more body-based and trauma-focused therapeutic process.

This program integrates ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with Somatic EMDR and nervous system work, allowing us to process experiences not only at a cognitive level, but also through the body. The structure supports working with patterns that may feel stuck, automatic, or difficult to access through talk therapy alone.

The focus is on the full arc of preparation, medicine sessions, and integration, with an emphasis on how trauma is held in the nervous system and how it shows up in your relationships, including partners, metamours, and chosen family.

Other options offer different levels of structure and focus. The Comprehensive KAP Program provides a deeply supported, structured experience across multiple sessions. The Catalyst KAP Program offers a shorter, more introductory experience with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

For individuals who are receiving ketamine treatment through another clinic or medical provider, I also offer Preparation & Integration Support to help ensure the experience is approached intentionally and the insights from the medicine are meaningfully integrated afterward.

During your free consultation, we can explore which option best fits your goals, pacing, and the kind of support you’re looking for.

Who is this program best suited for?

This is a strong fit if you’ve done therapy before and still feel stuck in the same patterns, even when you understand where they come from.

You might notice that you can name your trauma, your attachment style, or your coping strategies, but in the moment you still feel reactive, shut down, anxious, or disconnected. This often shows up in the body as tension, numbness, urgency, or collapse, and in relationships as repeating dynamics with partners, metamours, or chosen family.

This program is especially supportive for people navigating PTSD, chronic stress, and attachment wounds that continue to shape how you relate, even when you’re trying to do something different. It’s for people who want support not just in understanding their patterns, but in actually shifting how those patterns live in their nervous system and show up in real time.

It can also be a good fit if talk therapy has felt helpful but incomplete, and you’re wanting a more experiential, body-based approach that allows deeper processing and change.

Why combine ketamine, Somatic EMDR, and somatic therapy?

Each modality opens a different door. Together, they allow us to move through the whole system.

Ketamine can increase flexibility and reduce defensiveness. EMDR supports reprocessing of distressing experiences. Somatic work helps track and release what is held in the nervous system. When combined, we can access material that may not be reachable through talk therapy alone and support it moving through rather than staying stuck.

What does the process look like from start to finish?

This is a structured, supported arc, not a series of isolated sessions.

We begin with preparation, where we build safety, map your nervous system, and clarify intentions. During medicine sessions, we track what emerges without forcing it. Integration sessions are where we process, rework patterns, and experiment with changes in real time, including in your relationships and daily life.

What is Somatic EMDR, and how is it different from traditional EMDR?

Somatic EMDR expands traditional EMDR by actively including the body in the reprocessing process.

We track not only thoughts and memories, but also sensations, impulses, tension, breath, and shifts in activation. This allows us to work with trauma that may not have clear language or narrative, and supports deeper regulation and a stronger sense of internal safety.

What if I feel nervous about doing this level of trauma work?

That’s a really important signal, not something to push past.

We move at a pace your system can actually tolerate. Preparation focuses on building safety, resourcing, and consent so you’re not overwhelmed or forced into anything before you’re ready. You are always in choice about how deep we go and when.

We also track your nervous system closely throughout the process and adjust in real time. The goal is not to push through trauma, but to process it in a way that feels supported, titrated, and sustainable.

How does integration work in this program?

Integration is where the work becomes usable in your life.

We take what emerged during your dosing session and process it using Somatic EMDR and relational exploration. This can include reprocessing specific experiences, shifting beliefs, and working with how patterns show up across your relationships.

Example:
If a session brings up fear of abandonment, we might track how that shows up with a partner and practice expressing a need while staying regulated, rather than shutting down or overextending.

What kind of results can I expect?

Most people notice changes in how they feel and respond, not just what they understand.

This can include more capacity to stay present during difficult emotions, less reactivity, and a greater sense of choice in how you respond. Many people also notice shifts in their relationships, including clearer communication, stronger boundaries, and more aligned ways of relating within their network.

The goal is not to eliminate difficulty, but to increase flexibility, resilience, and connection over time.
