Ketamine is a legal and safe treatment that has been shown to help with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and the effects of stress and trauma. When used with the support of a trained clinician, it can open space for relief and new possibilities. Unlike some treatments that may take weeks to show effects, many people notice a shift within hours to days.
When You Need Relief That Doesn’t Take Weeks
Your mind can grow new pathways toward balance and ease
Ketamine works by helping the brain form new connections and restore balance to the systems that regulate mood and energy. This process, known as neuroplasticity, allows the brain to heal in ways that can create lasting change.
Lasting Change Through the Neuroplastic Window
After a ketamine session, the brain enters what’s called a neuroplastic window a period when your brain is especially open to change and growth.
Here’s how it works, in simple terms:
-
Ketamine supports your brain’s communication systems by blocking NMDA receptors and stimulating AMPA receptors.
-
This increases glutamate (often called the brain’s fertilizer), which helps new connections grow.
-
As a result, the brain releases growth factors that repair stress-damaged neurons and strengthen pathways that regulate mood and energy.

What this means for you:
-
Patterns that once felt stuck can become more flexible.
-
Shifts made in therapy are more likely to take root during this window.
-
With preparation and integration, change can become lasting and sustainable long after the session.
With Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, you may…
-
Notice shifts in mood within hours to days
-
Feel more open to new perspectives and possibilities
-
Release patterns of thought and behavior that once felt unmovable
-
Access deeper relief from the weight of trauma and stress
-
Build changes that last through guided preparation and integration sessions

This approach can be especially supportive if other therapies or medications haven’t brought enough relief, and for those seeking a new pathway toward sustainable healing.

What Makes Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Unique
Many people turn to ketamine after trying other treatments that haven’t brought enough relief. What makes this therapy unique is how quickly it works, how it supports the brain in healing, and how it can help even when other approaches haven’t.
Works in a New Way
Unlike traditional antidepressants, ketamine acts on different brain receptors, helping reset how your brain communicates and opening space for healing.

Fast Relief
Most antidepressants can take weeks to work. Ketamine often begins to ease symptoms within hours to days, offering hope more quickly.

Support for Suicidal Thoughts
Ketamine has been shown to reduce suicidal thinking rapidly, creating safety and space for healing when it’s needed most.

Helps When Other Treatments Haven’t
For people who haven’t felt enough change with therapy or medications, ketamine offers another path forward; one that can bring real relief.

High Response Rate
Research shows that 70-80% of people experience meaningful improvements with ketamine, even if other treatments didn’t help.

Why Therapy Matters in Ketamine-Assisted Healing
Ketamine opens a powerful window for change, but therapy is what makes those changes last. Through therapy, you’ll have support to:

-
Feel safe and grounded before, during, and after treatment
-
Work with what comes up, instead of feeling lost or alone in the experience
-
Use the “neuroplastic window” to practice new patterns that can truly take root
-
Carry insights into daily life so healing extends far beyond the session
What Happens in the Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Program?
Once you’ve completed your medical screening with Journey Clinical and are approved, you’ll receive your ketamine prescription in the mail. At the same time, I’ll send you a Courageous You Welcome Kit with thoughtful tools, like a blood pressure monitor, ginger mints, and eye shades to help you feel supported from the very start.
From there, the program follows a structured yet flexible flow designed to balance safety, depth, and lasting change:
-
Intake – We take time to understand your story, including your history, identity, relationships, and how your body carries stress, so we can anticipate what will best support you.

-
Preparation – Over 2–4 sessions, we practice grounding tools, clarify boundaries, and work through the Courageous You KAP Guidebook to build a strong foundation of safety and readiness.

-
Intentions & Environment – Together we clarify your hopes and co-create the setting; whether music, comfort items, or rituals, that will help you feel steady and supported.

-
Medicine Journey – During a 2 - 3 hour dosing session, you’ll take sublingual ketamine and settle into an inward-focused state with my guidance and presence throughout.

-
Processing & Anchoring – While in the medicine space, emotions or sensations may arise. You’re invited to notice and release them. Toward the end, we highlight meaningful insights and connect them to new ways of being.

-
Closure – Each session ends with grounding and orienting so you leave feeling safe and steady.

-
Integration – The next day, and in ongoing sessions, we weave your experiences into daily life. This cycle of dosing and integration typically repeats 6–8 times, depending on your needs and goals.
What It Feels Like

Many people describe ketamine sessions as entering a dreamlike or meditative state. Physically, your body often feels heavier, softer, and deeply relaxed. Some people notice their breathing slowing, muscles unclenching, or a gentle warmth spreading through the body. Others describe a sense of floating, as if being carried or held.

Alongside the physical shifts, the mind may open in new ways. You might:

-
Experience colors, sounds, or sensations that feel richer or softer
-
Notice memories resurfacing with more clarity or compassion
-
Feel waves of calm moving through the body
-
Rest in a state of quiet stillness where the mind finally eases
-
Sense a deepened connection to yourself, others, or something larger

Every journey is unique. Some sessions bring reflection and insight, while others offer a soothing spaciousness. What matters most is that you’ll be supported the whole time with grounding practices, an attuned presence, and a safe container to explore whatever arises in both body and mind.
Partnering with Journey Clinical for Your Care
As a Journey Clinical KAP Provider, I partner with their specialized medical team to ensure your care is safe, thorough, and well-supported. Journey Clinical handles the medical side of treatment reviewing your health history, determining eligibility, prescribing ketamine lozenges, and monitoring outcomes while I guide you through the therapeutic process.

In this program, we use sublingual ketamine lozenges. These are small tablets you hold in your mouth, swish for about 12 minutes, and then spit out. This method is gentle, safe, and effective for at-home treatment.

Medical intakes and follow-ups with Journey Clinical might be covered by insurance, you can check out if your insurance plan covers KAP with Journey Clinical HERE. Preparation, integration, and dosing sessions with me are not covered by insurance, many clients can use out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement. Preparation & Integration Sessions
I provide superbills (receipts) for clients with out-of-network insurance coverage, and many people receive significant reimbursement this way. You don’t have to navigate it alone; my staff will walk you through each step and offer support along the way. I also keep a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who can’t pay the full session rate. If working together feels right but cost is a barrier, please reach out to info@courageousyou.us to ask about current availability. We’ll do our best to make care accessible.
Dosing Sessions
My approach is flexible and tailored to your needs. Most clients begin with 2–4 preparation sessions (50 minutes each) before moving into dosing sessions (2–3 hours), typically scheduled every 2–4 weeks. The first two dosing sessions are 3 hours long and then after those sessions, clients can opt into 2 hour sessions if that is more financially feasible and clinically appropriate.

Each dosing session is followed by a 50-minute integration session the next day (or within 72 hours) to help weave insights into daily life.

On average, clients complete 6–8 dosing sessions, though the program remains flexible based on both clinical needs and financial considerations.

I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($175 for prep/integration, $495 for 3-hour dosing, and $350 for 2 hour dosing sessions) for clients who need additional support with cost.
Most clients invest between $5,560–$7,880 for a full program, depending on the number of preparation, dosing, and integration sessions included. We’ll talk through what’s best for you during your free consultation.
