Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for Neurodivergent Adults
I'm neurodivergent too, and I built this practice for people like us. Whether you're navigating burnout, masking, late diagnosis, or the particular weight that comes with a nervous system that works differently in a world that wasn't designed for it, this is a space where you don't have to perform neurotypicality to be taken seriously. Offered via telehealth in Washington, Idaho, and Florida.
Start where it feels right:

Hey. You found your way here.
This work was built by and for neurodivergent people. Not as an afterthought, not as a checkbox but because neurodivergent healing has its own texture. The exhaustion of masking so long you forgot what it feels like to just be yourself. The grief of a late diagnosis and everything that reframes. The particular loneliness of a nervous system that responds differently in a world that keeps asking you to be otherwise. The way trauma and neurodivergence get tangled together in ways that are hard to separate and even harder to explain.
You don't have to explain any of that here. This is a space that already understands the landscape and knows that finding your way home to yourself looks different when you've spent a lifetime being told you're too much and not enough at the same time.
My people
I center queer, neurodivergent, kinky, and non-monogamous clients because I know how hard it is to find a therapist who truly gets it. I hold each of these identities myself, which means you won't have to translate your life, defend your relationship structures, or educate me about your gender, pronouns, or dynamics while you're trying to heal. This space was made for you.
KAP is at the heart of what I do
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is one of the most powerful tools I offer, and one of the most misunderstood. Here's what it actually looks like to do this work together.
Depression or anxiety that feels stuck
Trauma held in the body or nervous system
Where KAP Can Help
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy can be supportive when you’re carrying experiences that feel heavy, persistent, or hard to reach through talk therapy alone.
Burnout, shutdown, or deep emotional exhaustion
Chronic pain that affects daily life
Big identity shifts (coming out, transitioning, etc)
PTSD or complex trauma that feels out of reach
Lasting Change Through the Neuroplastic Window
After a ketamine session, the brain enters what’s called a neuroplastic window; a period when your brain is especially open to change and growth.
Here’s how it works, in simple terms:
-
Ketamine supports your brain’s communication systems by blocking NMDA receptors and stimulating AMPA receptors.
-
This increases glutamate (often called the brain’s fertilizer), which helps new connections grow.
-
As a result, the brain releases growth factors that repair stress-damaged neurons and strengthen pathways that regulate mood and energy.
What this means for you:
-
Patterns that once felt stuck can become more flexible.
-
Shifts made in therapy are more likely to take root during this window.
-
With preparation and integration, change can become lasting and sustainable long after the program is complete.

Ketamine‑assisted therapy at Courageous You is especially for:
-
Queer and questioning LGBTQIA+ adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, or identity‑based stress
-
Neurodivergent folks (ADHD, autism, AuDHD) dealing with burnout, masking, or shame
-
Kinky/BDSM‑identified people wanting a therapist who understands that consent, power exchange, and play are not pathology
-
Non‑monogamous, polyamorous, and relationship‑anarchist humans wanting support that respects the complexity of their important relationships
We stay with you through every step

Alongside ketamine-assisted therapy, I also offer individual psychotherapy, relationship therapy, and Somatic EMDR therapy for my communities when space allows.
We work with both emotional experience and nervous system patterns, recognizing how stress, stigma, and past experiences shape the body as well as the mind.

Founder of Courageous You
I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 14 years of experience supporting individuals and relationships through trauma, identity exploration, and meaningful change. Much of my work centers people navigating lives outside of traditional scripts, including queer, non-monogamous, neurodivergent, and kink-affirming communities. I also work with athletes and former athletes; a community I've been part of for over three decades as a competitor, a coach, and a founder. I offer all of my services via telehealth to clients across Washington.
Courageous You was created from a simple belief: people deserve therapy that actually understands their lives. My approach is collaborative, curious, and grounded in compassion for the complex ways identity, relationships, and lived experience shape who we are.
My work draws from several approaches, including relational therapy (Gottman and EFT based), Somatic EMDR therapy, parts work, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, allowing us to tailor the process to what best supports your healing and growth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you adapt your approach for neurodivergent clients?
Yes. Neurodivergent-affirming therapy looks different from traditional talk therapy. I work flexibly with autistic and ADHD adults using direct communication, clear structure, and somatic approaches that fit how neurodivergent nervous systems actually work, not a neurotypical mold.
Can you work with late-diagnosed or self-diagnosed adults?
Yes. Many adults come to neurodivergent-affirming therapy after a late autism or ADHD diagnosis, or while still in the process of figuring it out. A formal diagnosis is not required here. Whether you were diagnosed at 7 or 47, or you're self-identified, you're welcome.
Do you have experience with masking and autistic burnout?
Yes. Masking, autistic burnout, and the exhaustion of performing neurotypicality are central to the work I do with neurodivergent adults. I'm AuDHD myself and understand this from the inside.
Can you help with neurodivergent trauma?
Yes. Neurodivergence and trauma are deeply connected for many ADHD and autistic adults and often show up together. I use somatic EMDR and body-based approaches that are particularly effective for neurodivergent nervous systems navigating complex trauma.
Do you offer any therapy without ketamine?
Yes, I maintain limited availability for traditional psychotherapy, relationship therapy, and Somatic EMDR therapy specifically for clients who are queer, non-monogamous, neurodivergent, or kinky. These sessions are offered on a case-by-case basis when KAP isn't appropriate or desired. This ensures these communities retain access to affirming, specialized care.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly. However, I provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement for psychotherapy sessions In Washington, including preparation and integration sessions when participating in ketamine-assisted therapy.
Ketamine medication and medical services are typically not covered by insurance, but therapy sessions may be eligible for partial reimbursement depending on your plan.
To help make the reimbursement process easier, Courageous You partners with Thrizer, a service that helps clients check their out-of-network benefits and submit claims for reimbursement.
You can use the benefits check tool here to see whether you may be eligible for reimbursement before starting therapy.
I also recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to better understand your out-of-network mental health benefits.
How soon can I start?
The best place to begin is by scheduling a free consultation. I'm currently accepting new clients in Washington, Idaho, and Florida. This is a relaxed conversation where we can explore what you're hoping to work on, review your history and goals, and talk through what type of support may be most helpful for you.
Some clients come in specifically interested in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy programs such as the Comprehensive KAP Program, the Catalyst KAP Program, or the Somatic EMDR KAP Program, which integrates ketamine therapy with body-based trauma processing and EMDR-informed work.
Others may be looking for Preparation & Integration support if they are participating in ketamine therapy through another clinic or provider.
Some clients may also benefit from Somatic EMDR therapy, individual psychotherapy, or relationship-focused therapy without ketamine.
During the consultation, we’ll talk through the different options and determine which approach or program feels most aligned with your needs. If ketamine-assisted therapy seems like a good fit, the next steps include a medical screening and preparation sessions before any medicine experiences take place.
If you’re not sure where to start, that’s completely okay. The consultation is simply a space to ask questions, explore possibilities, and decide what path forward feels right for you.
