Courageous You

At Courageous You Therapy, we know that true healing occurs when every client feels seen, valued, and fully accepted. In a world where relationship structures are more diverse than ever, therapists must expand their understanding beyond traditional paradigms to provide genuinely inclusive support. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce an upcoming training uniquely crafted for therapists who are ready to elevate their practice—deepening their knowledge, challenging biases, and becoming powerful allies for non-monogamous clients seeking affirmation, understanding, and healing.

Join us on October 17, 2025, for “Liberated Love: A Therapist’s Guide to Non-Monogamous Dynamics,” an engaging 3-hour online course hosted by AFFIRM Mental Health, LLC and led by Courageous You. This interactive training will provide mental health professionals with vital insights into the diverse world of non-monogamy, empowering you to support your clients with confidence, care, and clarity.

Why This Non-Monogamous Therapist Training Matters

As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), as well as being both non-monogamous and queer myself, I’ve navigated the complex terrain of relationships, identity, and societal myths firsthand. Non-monogamous relationships are as varied as the individuals who practice them—each featuring unique motivations and challenges. Yet, many therapists feel unprepared or uncertain about how to approach these relationships in ways that are affirming for non-monogamous clients.

“Liberated Love” is designed to bridge that gap. Through evidence-based discussion, practical exercises, and myth-busting, this course will equip you with tools to:

  • Understand different types and dynamics of non-monogamous relationships

  • Identify and challenge misconceptions and biases

  • Integrate inclusive tools and frameworks into your practice, making your therapy space a safe haven for non-monogamous clients

What You Will Learn

Explore Relationship Diversity: Dive into the various forms of non-monogamy from polyamory and open relationships to swinging, and more, —and the unique motivations and challenges that non-monogamous clients might face.

Confront Myths and Biases: Learn to recognize common stereotypes and misconceptions that could be impacting your clients, how these myths may unconsciously influence your work, and develop strategies to address all of these in the therapy room and beyond.

Develop Affirming Practices: Gain practical techniques for adapting your intake forms, assessments, and therapeutic approaches to affirm non-monogamous identities and experiences, fostering a more inclusive and welcoming therapeutic environment.

About the Instructor

I’m Sarah Wolfer, a queer, non-binary, and non-monogamous licensed independent social worker with a deep passion for supporting LGBTQIA+ and non-monogamous communities. As a polyamorous relationship anarchist myself, I understand the nuanced realities of these relationships firsthand. At my private practice, Courageous You, I offer psychotherapy, relationship therapy, ketamine-assisted therapy, and I serve as a clinical supervisor and consultant on topics surrounding queerness, neurodivergence, and non-monogamy.
